A2Z Dental Care offer wisdom teeth and all other tooth extractions. Many of our new patients sometimes automatically assume that if they have an aching tooth, visiting a dentist or a dental clinic will mean extraction of the affected tooth. But we always try to let you keep as many of your natural teeth as you can and if we are able to save your affected tooth we will do everything to save that tooth. However, there are dental cases where a tooth needs to be extracted in order to save the adjacent teeth and only then we advice the patients to go for a tooth extraction.
Teeth may be extracted if:
When teeth are decayed, infected or broken, the affected individual may suffer mild to severe symptoms of pain in the mouth and face. Persistent toothache may prompt a patient to request tooth extraction. Healthy impacted wisdom teeth may also suddenly present complications requiring wisdom tooth extraction..
What are wisdom teeth?
By the age of eighteen, the average adult has 32 teeth, 16 teeth on the top and 16 on the bottom. The average mouth is made to hold 28 teeth. It can be painful when 32 teeth try to fit in a mouth that holds only 28 teeth. These four other teeth are your third molars, also known as 'wisdom teeth'. Wisdom teeth are the last to erupt within the mouth. Wisdom tooth extraction is often required when the tooth has grown at an angle as a result of a lack of room left in the back of the mouth when they begin to emerge. However, not all wisdom teeth need to be removed. We can advise you on the best course of action for your wisdom tooth. If a wisdom tooth has not come fully through but needs to be removed due to recurrent infection, a minor surgical procedure will be performed to remove the tooth. Once again the area will be profoundly anaesthetised, so no pain will be involved. For patients who are anxious about tooth extractions, we also provide Intra-Venous sedation or laughing gas Inhalation sedation.
